America unhappy with India’s stand on Russia

The world is stunned by India’s position in the 31-day-long Russia-Ukraine conflict. America is concerned about India’s stance, but it remains hopeful that its efforts to persuade India to join its side will be successful. We’re trying to bring India together, said Mira Rap-Hooper, Indo Pacific Director at White House Security Counseling.

Mira Hooper stated, “We are constantly trying to persuade India to join us on the Ukraine issue.”

India’s position at the United Nations Security Council

India was not present at the United Nations Security Council when all resolutions condemning Russia’s attack in Ukraine were voted on. China and the United Arab Emirates, like India, did not vote. Harsh Vardhan Shringla, India’s Foreign Secretary, said, “At the United Nations, we take a cautious and such approach, which is based on ideas.” We will certainly consider the condemnation motion, but we will make our decision in our own best interests.

The Biden administration is working to bring India closer together.

Victoria Nuland, a senior official in Joe Biden’s administration, met with Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla in New Delhi this week. This meeting focused on the situation in Ukraine. America is constantly attempting to bring India together through diplomacy, despite India’s UN voting boycott.

Russia has declared two Ukrainian cities independent.

At the start of the war, Russia recognised the Donbass regions of Donetsk and Luhansk as independent countries. Russia has claimed responsibility for the destruction of Ukraine’s largest fuel storage facility. In this attack, the Kalibr cruise missile was used.
