Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has revealed that striker Anthony Martial wants to leave the Premier League club. The France player has only made 2 Premier League starts this season and just four overall matches for United after falling further down the pecking line since Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to the club.
After 7 years with Old Trafford, Martial is seeking a new home. When asked about Martial during the press conference, Ralf Rangnick said: “Yes, we spoke in detail yesterday. He told me that he’s been at Manchester United now for the past seven years, and he believes it is the right time to make to make a switch, to move elsewhere.”
“I believe this is an approach that is understandable, and I could agree with his ideas, but on the other hand, it’s crucial to look at the current state that the team is in. We have COVID timesand there are three competitions which we are still pursuing ambitious goals and would like to succeed as much as we are able to be.”
“And I informed him that the decision shouldn’t be just for the benefit of the player, but it must be also in the best interest for the team. So far, so to my knowledge there’s been no offers from any other club. So long as this continues to be the case he’ll remain,” he added
The 26-year-old signed with United in Monaco in September of 2015 and became the most expensive youngster in football world-wide in the year at that time. Martial is still left with three years remaining on his current deal, which he signed in the year 2019 and includes an option to extend the contract for an additional year.
