Christian Pulisic (Chelsea forward) has been named US Soccer’s male soccer player of the Year.Ricardo Pepi, the young male athlete of the year by the governing bodies, was awarded the honor before the US’s final exhibition of 2021 in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Pulisic was also the first American player to reach the Champions League final.
He scored six goals, four assists and played 40 games for London Club. His highlights were a two-goal win against Crystal Palace in March and a goal against Real Madrid at the Champions League semifinal.
Pulisic, a four-time national team captain, also scored three game winning goals, two against archrival Mexico.
The Pennsylvania native made a penalty kick for the CONCACAF Nations League final. His first touch was last month, coming off the bench as a World Cup qualifier.
Pepi (18 years old) made a bold debut with the national soccer team against Honduras, scoring a goal as well as two assists during a 4-1 victory.
He then scored against Jamaica two goals in October, cementing him as one the most promising young talent playing in the US.
El Paso native, and FC Dallas forward, chose to represent the US in August over Mexico after he was selected in the MLS All-Star Game.
Pulisic was 23 years old when he also won top awards in 2017-2018 and 2019, and won the young players award in 2016. Pulisic joins Landon Donovan & Clint Dempsey as the only men to have it more than three times.
