Gill can replace Pujara in the first Test against Sri Lanka

Who will play the first and third positions?
In the Mohali Test, captain Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal will be in charge of India’s opening pair. Rohit, who hasn’t played a Test match since last year’s tour of England, will return after a six-month break. Mayank, on the other hand, did not enjoy the South Africa Test series. In three matches, he scored 135 runs at an average of 22.50. He’d also like to get back on track in this series.

Shubman At number three, Gill has taken the place of Cheteshwar Pujara. Due to injury, Gill was unable to participate in the Africa tour, but he can be seen in a new role in this series. Gill has appeared in ten Tests so far, all of which he has done as an opener. He might get a chance in Mohali in place of Pujara.

Kohli is ranked fourth, but who is ranked fifth?

Virat Kohli, the former captain, will start at number four. Virat Kohli will play his 100th Test match. Kohli will become the world’s 12th and 71st player to achieve this historic feat for India. Kohli hasn’t scored a century in international cricket in the last two years, so a century in his 100th Test against Sri Lanka is expected.

Shreyas Iyer and Hanuma Vihari are two contenders to replace Ajinkya Rahane at No. 1… In the T20 series against Sri Lanka, Iyer was in outstanding form and was named Player of the Series. He hit a century on his Test debut against New Zealand earlier this year.

At the same time, Vihari is in fantastic shape. In the Ranji Trophy, he scored 59 in the first innings and 106 in the second innings against Cuttack. Vihari has proven his worth every time he has been given the opportunity. He scored 20 off 53 balls in the first innings of the Johannesburg Test against Africa, and 40 not out off 84 balls in difficult conditions in the second innings. Captain Rohit Sharma will have a difficult time deciding between Shreyas and Hanuma.

Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper)

Rishabh Pant will be responsible for keeping the team together. Pant stated his opinion. In his last test match against Africa, he hit a century. He’ll also be expected to do well in the Sri Lanka series. Rishabh has scored 454 runs at an average of 65 in six test matches played in India.

Spinners and all-rounders

As all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin will be in charge of the spin department. Jadeja has been recalled to the Test squad. He had previously made a strong comeback against Sri Lanka in the T20 series. With the ball and the bat, Jadeja has a chance to make an impact in this series. He has 2195 runs and 232 wickets in 57 matches.

When it comes to R Ashwin, the Africa tour was a disaster for him. In three matches, he only managed to take three wickets. The Sri Lankan team, on the other hand, will find it difficult to deal with Ashwin on Indian soil. He has taken 430 wickets and scored 2844 runs in 84 matches so far.

How will the attack be timed?

Jasprit Bumrah, the vice-captain, will be in charge of fast bowling. Mohammed Shami and Mohammad Siraj, on the other hand, are expected to play in the starting XI. In three Test matches against Africa, Bumrah took 12 wickets, while Shami claimed 14 wickets.

Shami was in good shape after his trip to Africa. He’ll also be ready to make a strong comeback in the Sri Lankan series. When it comes to Siraj, the Africa Test series was a disaster for him. In two matches, he only managed to take three wickets. After that, he put in a fantastic performance in the limited overs series.
