IPL 2022: Suryakumar Yadav may miss the first match for Mumbai Indians

Big news for Mumbai Indians fans is coming out ahead of the start of the IPL 2022. Mumbai’s first match is against Delhi Capitals on March 27, and star player Suryakumar Yadav is expected to sit out. Surya suffered an injury during the T20I series against the West Indies at home. He went to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for rehab after suffering a hairline fracture in his thumb.

Suryakumar has been in Bengaluru for the past few weeks, according to ESPN Cricinfo, and the NCA has yet to release him. Mumbai may suffer a significant setback as a result of Surya’s absence. There are no big names on the team to replace him in the top order. Uncapped player Tilak Verma, Ramandeep Singh, or Anmolpreet Singh at number 3 could get a chance to play in place of Surya.

Suryakumar is expected to play in the match against Rajasthan Royals on April 2nd, according to media reports. He should be in good shape by then. Mumbai Indians paid Rs 8 crore to keep Suryakumar. He scored 1733 runs at an average of 32 in 61 IPL matches for Mumbai.
