According to Internet consulting firm RedSeer, customer footfall on these business groups’ digital assets increased, as did the number of repeat customers. This became the foundation for SuperApp’s expansion in any field. Tata’s plan to consolidate its consumer offerings on a single platform is similar to that of Gulf business groups.

Why are Indian companies so interested in developing super apps?

When a large population wants more and more services and features from a smartphone rather than a desktop, a country or region is considered ready for a super app. A major reason for this is the lack of an ecosystem of apps to meet local needs.

India is becoming a market where the Internet is being used by a large number of people. 90% of subscribers now use their mobile phones to access the internet.
