The African coach, stunned by his team's victory, said this in praise

IND vs SA, 3rd Test: South Africa won the Test series by defeating India in the third Test in Cape Town. Dean Elgar and his teammates reached their target of 212 runs for the loss of three wickets on the fourth day of the test match. The South African team had to come back from a loss in the Centurion Test to win the series.

Now, South Africa’s head coach, Mark Boucher, has hailed the 2-1 victory over India as one of his country’s greatest triumphs in Test cricket. Boucher also complimented Captain Dean Elgar and Vice-Captain Temba Bavuma.

‘It should be seen that we lost the toss in all three matches,’ Boucher said in the post-match press conference. After the first day of the series’ first Test, many people, including the media, predicted our defeat.’

‘It was wonderful to win the second and third Test matches after losing the first Test match badly,’ Boucher said. One of our top five victories should be this one. Despite the situation we were in prior to the series and the talk off the field, it’s fantastic to get such a good result.

“The way the entire Test series was played, it was a tough struggle,” Boucher said, describing the historic victory as a morale booster. Bat and ball put up a good fight. This has to be one of the best Test series South Africa has ever seen. This victory will greatly boost morale. The level of dedication displayed by these players in such a short period of time is truly remarkable.

South Africa had only played six matches under Dean Elgar’s captaincy prior to this series, and the team returned to the Centurion ground to play Test matches after a six-month hiatus. Following the loss at Centurion, the inexperienced team led by Elgar easily chased down the 200-plus target in bouncy conditions in the last two Tests. In Johannesburg, Elgar led the team to victory, while in Cape Town, Keegan Peterson led the team to victory by scoring 82 runs.

Boucher is unsurprised by the team’s retaliation. ‘I am not surprised because your team has a player like Dean Elgar,’ he said. With zeal and passion, he leads the team. Temba Bavuma serves as the vice-captain. He’s a savage fighter. As a result, you have two players who are leading the way and can be followed.
