The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has named its limited-overs squad for the upcoming series against Ireland and England. Kieron Pollard, the Windies’ captain, has returned to the squad. After recovering from an injury, Pollard has returned to the team.
Surprisingly, Chris Gayle, an experienced explosive opener, has been left out of the lineup. The Windies board, on the other hand, has stated that they will wait for the right opportunity before bringing Gayle back. Ricky Skerritt, the CEO of Cricket West Indies, told our affiliate website Cricbuzz that the board wants to bid Gayle farewell in front of the fans. He is looking for the right time and opportunity in such a situation.
From the 22nd to the 30th of January 2022, the Windies (West Indies vs Ireland) will play a 5-match T20 series at Kensington Oval. Before facing England, the Windies must first host Ireland. The Windies and Ireland will play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and one Twenty-20 match. The series against Ireland will take place at Sabina Park in Jamaica from January 8 to 16, 2022.
